Preparing for Leadership Through Community Awareness

Atlanta, GA, May 30, 2020 — On Thursday, May 14, Eastlake Male Youth Initiative launched a two-part community service series on Preparing for Leadership Through Community Awareness. Mr. James "Jay" Bailey, CEO of the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RCIE), led our 8th youth empowerment and leadership session on the Zoom video conferencing platform.

Mr. Bailey enlightened EMYI students on “The Herman J. Russell Legacy and the Entrepreneurial Story.” The legacy of Mr. Russell, an Atlanta entrepreneur and creator of the 4th largest black owned business in the history of America, is that he gave back to his community. Eastlake Male Youth Initiative is a joint partnership between The Grove CDC, Inc. (thegrovecdc-atl.org) and The Truth Teller Inc. (thetruthteller.org) and funded by a grant from DeKalb County government.
