Leadership Academy Day Three: Walking History

Day three of the A.P. Torrence Youth Leadership Academy started with a road trip to Tuskegee, Alabama to visit the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site and Tuskegee University. Their visit began with a guided tour of Hangar One by Ranger Toland. Students then proceeded to Hangar Two for a walking tour of the Tuskegee Airmen Museum.

The visit ended with a viewing of a documentary film on the Tuskegee Airmen.When asked about the leadership qualities they felt the Tuskegee Airmen displayed, the students unequivocally named: bravery, honesty, perseverance, hard work, courage, determination, sacrifice, and triumph.

Students were treated to a private tour of Tuskegee University by Professor Ken. Professor Ken showed the students his childhood home as well as the historic buildings built by Dr. Booker T. Washington.
