Building Valuable Communication Skills

Atlanta, GA, March 13, 2021 — To succeed students must not only focus on their technical knowledge but also invest in developing their soft skills and specifically communication skills. Mr. Michael Levesque, Executive Director, Morehouse College Alumni Association, facilitated the 6th Eastlake Male Youth Initiative leadership session on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Thirteen students participated in the C.O.O.L. Communicators Virtual Workshop. Voted by EMYI students as the Most Impactful Presenter - 2020, Mr. Levesque led students through a fun and interactive session. During the two-hour session, students practiced and worked on building confidence in their speaking skills.

“The ability to speak openly, honestly, and clearly will serve a young person throughout his or her life whether they take on an official leadership role or just serve as an example to others,” remarked Dr. Kenneth G. Torrence, EMYI Program Director.

For the final activity of the session, each student delivered a public speech using their newly acquired communication skills.
