APTYLA 2019 Opening Day

Today--June 3, 2019--The Truth Teller Inc. celebrates our second year of the A.P. Torrence Youth Leadership Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. It feels great to be doing what we have been planning for so long. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT POSSIBLE.

Dr. Torrence welcomes students to the 2019 A.P. Torrence Youth Leadership Academy.

As we settled into our new location at John Lewis Invictus Academy, 10 students arrived for the program. The morning focused on students and staff getting to know each other. We welcomed our three counselors: Julian Smith (APTYLA alum), Ryan Gibbs and Joshua Oheuri.

In the afternoon, students were introduced to Mr. Winston Muhammad—native Atlantan, retired school teacher, and close friend of Muhammad Ali. Mr. Muhammad spoke to students on code of conduct and enamored students with stories about Mr. Ali. The day closed with students in the “Talking Circle” and sharing what they learned for the day.
